IINJ Services and Programs




Employment Services


IINJ provides critical services and benefits to not only our clients but employers too! At the Employment Services Department we help prepare clients to enter the competitive American job market as they strive for financial independence and self-sufficient. We seek responsible business partners who understand the crucial role they play in assisting these new citizens-to-be in securing employment: the first step in realizing the American Dream. We offer our clients job readiness training with a focus on adapting to and succeeding in the American job market; career counseling; assistance in interviewing skills and resume writing; job upgrade services; credible introductions to potential employers; and referral to other pertinent agencies such as Dress for Success. We also offer English as a Second Language Classes and job placement assistance. Benefits to employers include no-cost access to a continuous supply of employee candidates who are highly motivated, pre-screened, and fully legal to work in the United States; skills matched to employer needs; ongoing client support services to promote long-term workforce reliability.

ESL/Free English Classes

IINJ now offers a six-level intensive program in conversational and workplace English for immigrants and other non-native speakers of English- for FREE! Emphasis is on the practical language needed for fluent speaking, listening, reading, and writing in order to get or maintain a job. Beginning Literacy through High Advanced ESL are offered. Each level of the six-level program requires 60 hours of instruction; and a Certificate of Proficiency is awarded to each person upon completion. Classes are offered in Bayonne, Jersey City, and West New York.

Free Hatha Yoga Classes

Hatha Yoga ClassesFree beginner yoga classes are now offered 3 days a week by IINJ employee Julie Castner, a certified Yoga Teacher (2000) through the Yoga Alliance Program in Mysore, India. Spaces are limited, and there is no entry without a referral for IINJ clients. You can bring your own mat, or borrow one of ours! Places and times:

Spike Fest-April 12th Volleyball Charity Tournament

Cash/Check. Please make checks payable to The International Institute of New Jersey.

$60 per team (up to 10 people on each team,) and $50 for St. Peter’s students (ID required).


Games: Each team will be guaranteed at least 2 games


Prizes: Teams that register before April 4th will receive t-shirts. Those that register after the 4th or at the door will receive t-shirts while supplies last!Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Global Youth Service Day is the largest annual celebration of young volunteers, where millions of young people in countries everywhere highlight and carry out thousands of community improvement projects! Money raised through Spike Fest will fund an art mural project at PS 11 here in Jersey City that will involve students, local artists and AmeriCorps members currently serving at the International Institute of New Jersey. The theme of the mural will be to promote Peace and Unity.
